BOTTLE CLOCK

2014     |     Client: Student Work

“Man is the measure of all things” - Protagoras, c. 490-420 BC.
This is a clock that draws on our water drinking habits to determine the passage of time through reconfiguring an everyday plastic water bottle into a measuring device. The bottle collar indicates the number of water bottles consumed, and the notches on the body measure the present water level. It does not seek to create a universal timekeeping system. Instead, it encourages users to create their own narrative of time through distributing a startup kit with a log journal, adhesive stickers and a tentative manual.
