NEWS BY US is a project born of a personal pet peeve, otherwise known as the negativity bias or ‘if it bleeds it leads’ mentality of news media. Taking two news stories* published by the New York Times on the same day, NEWS BY US reimagines the traditional newspaper into one that has two front pages—one for the ‘good news’ and one for the ‘bad news’. It aims to place the good and the bad on equal footing and to have readers consciously decide on how they wish to digest their news.
